Crap Song Club: August 2025
This is an writing intensive run over FOUR WEDNESDAY EVENINGS on Zoom with ROSE PARKER
For serial procrastinators and professional perfectionists!!
Come and write some crap songs with us! Going through a bit of a lull in your writing? Got a block the size of the Eiffel Tower in your brain? Just cannot get past the blank page? Get out of the way of yourself and commit to FOUR songs in FOUR weeks.
Rose and Delilah came up with the idea of the "Crap Song Club" after bandmate Karlee (The Holy Smoke) was having a hard time with a creative block and a blank page. "Just write a crap song!" And so she did...and it was wonderful. You see, once she got out of the way of her perfectionist brain, threw some spaghetti at the wall and was curious about what stuck.
So this really is a series of workshops to pry the perfectionist claws out of your brain and massage your curiosity and wonder with writing because done is better than perfect!
Wednesday 6th Aug - 8:00pm-9:30pm Perth GMT+8
Wednesday 13th Aug - 8:00pm-9:30pm Perth GMT+8
Wednesday 20th Aug - 8:00pm-9:30pm Perth GMT+8
Wednesday 27th Aug - 8:00pm-9:30pm Perth GMT+8
Each week you will receive a new topic on the Wednesday before the class (so you receive the first topic on Thurs 31st July). Your mission is to write a song (for example, verse, chorus, bridge, outro) with the allocated topic and then present it to your class on zoom.
The only rule - there are NO DISCLAIMERS. We all enter the Zoom Room with the understanding that this is a SAFE SPACE where early works can be shared, changed, deliberated over and massaged into the best form possible.
Nothing prepares you for performance other than just doing it.

Rose Parker is an award-winning and much-loved Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist who has woven her magic through the Australian musical landscape for over two decades drawing from folk, alt-country, blues-rock and gospel. Formally one half of The Velvet Janes, they released their debut EP in 1997 and followed up with 3 albums over the next 4 years, touring relentlessly nationally and through the USA, opening for Ani DiFranco, The Cowboy Junkies, The Black Sorrows, The Waifs, Paul Kelly and Luka Bloom. Winner Australian Songwriters Association Awards for "Blood on the Water" Rock/Indie Category
